SEE is excited to report that our Children’s Sight Week event was a huge success this year! Last week from August 9th-12th, SEE Vision Care (SVC) hosted our annual Children’s Sight Week event in correspondence with International Youth Day. This event provides local children with free comprehensive eye exams and free vouchers for glasses at local SVC clinics in Santa Maria, Goleta, Ventura, and Oxnard.
Among the children who received care during Children’s Sight Week were two siblings, 12-year-old Ana and her 5-year-old brother, Aaron. Ana has received eye exams and glasses from SEE in the past and visited our clinic for her annual check-up. Her glasses recently broke, making Children’s Sight Week the perfect opportunity to get a new pair just in time for the new school year. Ana mentioned that being able to see helps her maintain a better attention span, noting that after getting prescription glasses, she has been able to concentrate more in school.
Ana’s little brother Aaron also had his eyes screened and received a voucher for a free pair of prescription glasses. Aaron starts kindergarten this week and was so excited to be getting a pair of glasses just in time for his very first day of school. Before leaving his appointment, Aaron exclaimed that he can’t wait to wear his new glasses with his Mickey Mouse jacket to his first day of kindergarten!
SEE extends a special thank you to our lead sponsor, Montecito Bank & Trust, as well as our sponsors Union Bank, BMW Santa Barbara, CenCal Health, American Riviera Bank, Blue Planet Eco-Eyewear, and GV Optical for their generous support of Children’s Sight Week. Together, we provided eyecare to kids like Ana and Aaron so they can start the school year with the vision and confidence they need to excel!
