Who We Are
Our Story
In 1974, Dr. Harry Brown founded SEE International in response to the overwhelming number of individuals around the world living with preventable blindness.
To address the global lack of access to high-quality clinical eyecare, Dr. Brown and his colleagues developed an efficient mobile eye surgery system of intensive, short-term surgical clinics for remote, medically underserved populations worldwide.
What began with a small group of medical professionals soon grew into a network of what is now over 650 volunteer ophthalmologists, both traveling and host doctors alike, who provide tools, training, and expertise to help combat preventable blindness.
In the last 45 years, SEE has restored sight to over 600,000 people, making their families and communities healthier and stronger.

SEE International is headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, where our Board of Directors and 20-person team manages the logistics and operations for hundreds of clinics and educational opportunities around the globe every year.
